Words of Wisdom

Occassionally I come across things that I think are worthwhile writing down and saving. I wanted to share a few. Unfortunately I did not notate where I originally saw it, or who originally wrote it.
- Master Tomizaki

"Because not everyone can take charge of his or her destiny,
those who do rise to positions of authority have a responsibility
to those whose daily works keeps the enterprise running,
not only to steer the correct course, but to make sure no on is left behind."

"Success is empty if you arrive at the finish line alone.
The best reward is to get there surrounded by winners.
The more winners you can bring with you,
the more gratifying the victory."

" Part of what constitutes success in timing and chance.
But most of us have to create our own opportunities and
be prepared to jump when we see a big one others can't see.
It's one thing to dream, but when the moment is right,
you've got to be willing to leave what's familiar
and go out to find your own sound."

What is a Master?

In education, it takes about 18 years of schooling to achieve a Master's Degree.

Master Tomizaki has been training kung fu for 30 years.

Anyone can earn a Master's Degree if they pay for the education and stick with it. But, the truly elite are recognized by their peers and awarded prizes - e.g. Nobel, Pulitzer, etc.

Sifu has earned 31 First Place finishes in his competition years, and 8 Grand Champions. He has held the title of International 4 Star Grand Champion. So not only did he have to win one event, he had to be the best in forms, long weapon, short weapon and sparring - against top national AND international competitors.

How fortunate we are to be trained by such a talented and awesome teacher. Some people that can do, can't teach. Some people can teach, but can't do. Master Tomizaki is able to do it all.

Sifu in Chinese means Master. He has earned this title - thru his training, teaching and competition. He does more than talk the talk - he walks the walk.
